YAYA TOURE NEEDS STERLING TO BE CLINICAL

Manchester City legend Yaya Toure has asked Raheem Sterling to be more clinical as he has the potential to be one of the greatest. The Ivorian told the BBC that the England international has necessary ingredient already like being pacy and being clever.

Toure praised the technical prowess of Sterling, adding that playing close to Sergio Aguero and David Silva has been a plus. He said Sterling works hard but then he misses too many chances, which are sometimes laughable.

Sterling used to be wasteful at Liverpool and even when he moved to the Etihad Stadium. However, under Pep Guardiola, the player has changed drastically. He netted 23 times in all competitions in the just concluded season, scoring goals at key moments for City.

Toure believes the player can improve and even break the 30-goal ceiling. He says the way Sterling can change a game is impressive but then he if he always converted his chances then he should be pushing towards the 30-goal mark regularly.

The recently released Cityzens midfielder revealed that Sterling calls him “Uncle Yaya” all the time. He opened up that he has had to encourage him a lot when he missed opportunities last season. He opined that with quality players such as David Silva, Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne, then the ball would surely get to Sterling often but then he has to convert them.

Sterling has shocked England fans with some missed chances for the national team at the World Cup. He was expected to perform better after an impressive season but the player who is yet to get a goal has performed below par. He has contributed to the game though but he is expected to play a critical role for England moving forward.
