When all of the rumors involving Yaya Toure with a move away from Manchester City was cleared out, the African midfielder announced that he wants to remain performing with the jersey of Manchester City for a long time as he wants to accomplish more things with the Premier League club.
The former Barcelona player revealed some of his objectives and goals that he has established for the upcoming season.
Yaya Toure said: “We know the Premier League will be difficult but I am focused on Manchester City now,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.We must try to retain the Premier League but we know it will be difficult’’
“With Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, it is going to be very difficult, very tight. Hopefully at the end of the season we will have the trophy but we have the Champions League as well. It is very important for the club and we have not done so well in the last two seasons. It is important we do better than last year and try to make the quarter-finals.”
Manchester City is a club that has surprisingly never lifted the Champions League but Yaya Toure stated that its one of the main objectives of the team. The Premier League title is something that the team of Manuel Pellegrini can certainly win once more but the Champions League might be just too out of the reach of Manchester City at least taking into consideration all of the top clubs that are also aiming for it.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich are the favorites of winning the Champions League and while it certainly isn’t impossible for Manchester City to win it, it would be an outstanding accomplishment for them to achieve.
