TOURE: PEPE WILL COME GOOD

Former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder, Yaya Toure has declared that fellow country man Nicolas Pepe will come good for Arsenal. The Ivory Coast legend was speaking on a radio interview when he was asked about Pepe’s form with the Gunners.

Toure stated that it will be difficult for his fellow country man to settle immediately into his new environment. He admitted that Pepe has a huge talent but coming from Ligue 1 to the Premier League will take some time before the player can truly discover his peak form and produce consistently for his new club. Toure who worked with Arteta at Man City said he is convinced that the former Everton midfielder is the right man to bring the best out of Pepe.

Arteta joined Arsenal in late December, having taken over from interim manager, Freddie Ljungberg. The former Sweden international took over from Unai Emery. Emery was sacked after spending 18 months with the Gunners. The Spanish manager took over from the legendary Arsene Wenger.

Wenger spent over two decades with the club. The first decade of Wenger with the club was considered one of the best in the club’s history. But since moving to new home ground. The club could no longer compete with the elite both home and abroad. Wenger left the post in 2017, before Emery took over. The Spaniard enjoyed a good run during his first six month in the club before results started to go from bad to worse.

He brought Pepe to the club last summer in a big money move from Lille, but he couldn’t get the best out of the club’s record signing. Like Emery before him, Arteta is now charged with the responsibility of getting the best out of the Ivory Coast international, and Toure believes the former number two to Pep Guardiola is the right man to unleash the greatness in Pepe.
